The Makita EE400MP is an edger attachment for Makita couple-shaft (split-shaft) power heads, turning the same motor unit into a lawn and bed edger.

It runs an 8" (203 mm) steel blade with an adjustable depth wheel and a guide mark on the blade guard, so you can cut clean, straight edges along lawns, flower beds, paths, and driveways. A metal skid plate protects the gear housing. It connects to Makita multi-function power heads such as the UX01G, DUX18, and DUX60 using the shared couple-shaft mount, so one power head covers edging alongside trimming, pruning, and other tasks. Supplied as an attachment only; the power head and battery are separate.

It suits gardeners who want a crisp border between lawn and beds, or a clean edge along a path, without buying a separate single-purpose edger.

Lawn edges blur into beds over a season and look untidy, and a half-moon edging iron is slow, hard work. An edger attachment on a power head you already use solves that — quick, repeatable edges with far less effort, ideal for a spring tidy-up or keeping edges sharp through summer.

Warning

  1. Wear safety glasses and sturdy boots — the spinning steel blade throws stones, soil and debris at high speed.
  2. Keep your hands and feet clear of the rotating blade and keep bystanders and pets away — the blade keeps turning after you release the throttle.
  3. Stop the engine or remove the battery and wait for the blade to stop completely before clearing a jam, adjusting the depth, or moving the machine.
