Pruning saw Makita DUC101Z
- 18V LXT brushless
- Cuts to 100 mm, 8.0 m/s
- 1.96 kg with battery
The Makita DUC101Z is a battery pruning saw (18V LXT) for cutting branches and lighter wood in the garden. A brushless motor and compact body make it handy for cutting jobs where a chainsaw would be too big.
With a 3.0 Ah battery it weighs just 1.96 kg, and a maximum chain speed of 8.0 m/s gives a smooth cut. The cutting capacity is up to 100 mm, so thicker branches go through in one pass. It comes with a 3.0 Ah battery (BL1830B) and charger (DC18SD).
The pruning saw suits maintenance cutting of fruit trees and hedges, thinning brush, and preparing lighter firewood. Its light weight lets you work at shoulder height and on a ladder without tiring your arm.
Cutting branches with a hand saw takes time and effort, especially when there are many cuts to make. A battery saw does the same job faster and more evenly — useful during spring pruning and autumn cleanup, when there is plenty of maintenance cutting in the garden.

Warning
- 1 Never cut with the tip of the guide bar or let it touch branches or the ground — tip contact causes kickback that snaps the chain up toward you.
- 2 Keep your free hand and legs clear of the cut and don't saw above shoulder height — overhead, the saw quickly becomes hard to control.
- 3 Watch out for branches under tension — when released they whip back like a spring and can pinch the bar and chain.
